Wetlands: A Welcoming to Spring

Yesterday, we got to have the most perfect afternoon to celebrate the official start of spring in Wilmington after what felt like a forever long winter. My old and very close friend, Luke Carnevale, has been working as a mixologist + bartender at Manna for a while now so we have been mutually supporting each other's events since I started the store about a year and a half ago. That being said, we were never able to do something together until this.
Luke and the crew at Manna had a brilliant idea to make a garden party type event with local vendors, businesses, and most importantly - lots of great booze and food. The menu included oysters with tuna cheeks, chinese bbq chicken rulad plated, pork cheeks, and dessert courtesy of Carson Jewell and the other cooks of Manna. There was also coffee, beer from Wicked Weed and the best mixed drinks in town (of course) courtesy of the bartenders of Manna. The "Scotty Doesn't Know" was the cocktail of the day for sure. I mean, it was delicious AND pink, are you kidding?!
Along with the great people, food and drinks - we had Darian Rodriguez and her crew of musicians come in and keep the vibes high and classy with covers of Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and more. In between their sets, we had records spinning including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Etta James, Buddy Holly, Ella Fitzgerald, B.B. King and more!
It was truly a magical day. The event was called Wetlands and it was held at Luke's house right on the waterway. Eighty degrees with azaleas blooming, music in the air, and ice cold cocktails in one hand with raw oyster in the other. If this is any indication to the summer season ahead, we couldn't be happier!
